Harvest Queen, King Crowned

Oklahoma Baptist University's 2000 Harvest Queen and King and their Court were named from a group of 17 candidates Saturday evening at the annual Alumni Showcase Harvest Festival.

Lisa Brown, senior nursing major from Oklahoma City, was crowned Harvest Queen and Chris Wheeler, senior Bible major from Tulsa, was crowned Harvest King.

Also selected for the Harvest Court was Best All-Around Woman Joy Redfearn, senior oboe performance major from Hurst, Texas, and Best All-Around Man Brian Nelson, science education major from Calumet.

Beth Davidson, Spanish education major from Ft. Smith, Ark., was Most Popular Woman and Daryl Reininger, Bible major from Ada, was named Most Popular Man.

The Harvest Court members are selected by the OBU student body. An initial student vote determines the three candidates in each category and then students vote again to elect the final winners.

OBU's first Harvest Queen was named in the 1920's.

OBU, a liberal arts college in Shawnee, Okla., offers bachelor's degrees in 74 fields of study. The university is ranked third among regional liberal arts colleges in the West by U.S. News and World Report. OBU has an enrollment of 2,017 this fall.
