OBU Admissions Hires Three, Creates New Position

OBU's admissions office has added a new church relations post and filled two counselor positions this summer.
Lawrence Keith of Norman is the university's new church relations counselor. Jennifer Geren and Carrie Myles have been named to counselor positions.
Keith earned a bachelor of science degree in physical science from East Carolina University, Greenville, N.C., and a master of divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also completed the U.S. Navy Chaplains School graduate level advanced course in leadership and supervision.
Keith served as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy from 1980-98, earning the rank of commander. He also served as Baptist Student Union director at Boise State University, Boise, Idaho, from 1978-80, and director of athletic ministries and the Baptist Student Union at the University of Oklahoma from 1974-78.
His primary responsibility will be church relations, including student recruitment through church camps, college ministry groups, on-campus youth group events, church staff newsletters, and church staff advisory groups. He also will be responsible for promoting church-funded scholarships and other activities designed to foster relationships with churches in the region.
Geren, a native of Oklahoma City, is a May graduate of OBU. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in telecommunication, with a minor in journalism. Geren had worked as a student telecounselor in OBU's admissions office since 1999.
She also has served as an intern at OETA and Critical Mass Productions in Oklahoma City and as a sales associate at JC Penney, Oklahoma City. She will serve as admissions counselor for the Oklahoma City area, Colorado and the western United States.
Myles, from North Little Rock, Ark., graduated from OBU in May with a bachelor of arts degree in family psychology with a minor in applied ministry.
She had served as a student resident assistant at OBU since 1997, and was head resident assistant in 1999. She also had worked as an office assistant in OBU's residential life office since 1998.
She will serve as admissions counselor for the Tulsa area, Kansas and Missouri.
